Free listings

The badge

A free listing is a trade: Another Directory links to you, you link back. The badge is a small image with a link to your listing page. Put it on your homepage or in your site's footer and your listing gets a dofollow link for as long as the badge stays there.

What's checked

  • The page with the badge is on your tool's own domain (subdomains count, so www. or app. are fine).
  • The link points to another.directory and doesn't carry rel="nofollow", sponsored or ugc.
  • The badge is in the page's HTML. The check reads the source the way a search engine's first pass does, so a badge added later by JavaScript doesn't count.

When it's checked

First when you press "Check badge and go live" on your dashboard (the listing goes live the moment the badge is found), then every week. If the badge is missing, you get an email and 7 days before the link on your listing switches to nofollow. A site that's briefly down doesn't count as missing. Your listing is never removed because of the badge, and the dofollow link comes back as soon as the badge does.

Rather not add a badge?

Pro costs $29 once. It needs no badge, goes live as soon as you pay and comes with two dofollow links. Compare plans
